Why Oyo's Tourism Industry Needs Better Digital Visibility

Oyo State has a wealth of tourism and hospitality opportunities. Ajani’s collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism highlights how digital visibility can make these places and businesses easier to discover.

Oyo State has a lot to offer when it comes to tourism, hospitality and experiences, but for many of these opportunities, being available is only part of the journey. People also need to be able to find them. As more travelers and residents turn to digital platforms when searching for places to stay, visit or host events, having the right information available online is becoming increasingly important for the growth of tourism.

This was one of the key areas highlighted during Ajani’s engagement with the Oyo State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, particularly in discussions around improving the visibility and accessibility of tourism and hospitality offerings across the state.

For Dr. Mayowa Adeagbo, Director of Tourism, collaboration between the tourism sector and digital platforms can help create greater awareness and make it easier for people to discover what Oyo State has to offer.

Speaking on the collaboration, he said, “The Ministry encourages relevant stakeholders to cooperate with Ajani, where appropriate, in providing accurate information and participating in initiatives that can improve the visibility and accessibility of Oyo State tourism.”

The statement reflects the growing importance of connecting tourism with technology. Through its digital marketplace and discovery platform, Ajani provides a space where people can discover accommodation, tourism destinations and related hospitality services.

For businesses, this creates another opportunity to become more visible to potential customers. Hotels, short-let operators, tour operators, tourism sites, cultural organisations and other tourism-related businesses can benefit from being easier to find when people are actively searching for places and experiences.

But digital visibility is not only about being seen. Accurate and reliable information matters too. When people are deciding where to stay, what to visit or where to host an event, having clear information can make the discovery process easier and more convenient.

The collaboration between the Ministry and Ajani is therefore focused on complementing existing tourism efforts by improving digital promotion, visitor information and accessibility, while businesses and other stakeholders continue to play their part. Oyo State already has the destinations, businesses and experiences. The next step is making sure more people can find them.

And with government, tourism stakeholders and technology platforms working together, discovering Oyo can become easier, more accessible and more connected.
